Coffee And A Movie

Morningbru is taking strain, I couldn't help but feel a bit of sadness yesterday. We weren't able to go out and that means we have broken our 90 day plan to be there consistently for 90 days..... This permit thing must get sorted...

I scored a job with a friend for now doing props for a BBC documentary called infested --- I will probably blab on about that until the coffee gets going again.... Yesterday was my first day and it is, well, different. I am enjoying the whole process of getting props sorted and sourcing them from different places. The work environment is relaxed right now but I know it will get hectic when shooting begins. At the moment we are just prepping like mad so that things can run smoothly later on.

Waiting for my ride at the moment he just texted me that his toast is still toasting :/ hahaha We have a busy day lined up and  I am eagerly awaiting the challenge.

Have a great day

Permit Needed! And Cops Dont Like Coffee

Day 10 and everything was moving along awesomely ..... until the cops arrived, again, I mean really now, do cops not like quality coffee?? There were two of the biggest S.A.P.D okes I have ever seen and the way they looked at us, I could tell they meant business.

I was about ready to run when I saw the seriousness on their faces. They asked for my papers and tuned me I was missing my permit to stand there :/ Honestly, I didn't know we needed one at all. I had just assumed it was all sorted in the vending licence etc. I offered them some coffee and they said NO! --- Really, no to free coffee? Maybe they thought we were trying to bribe them with coffee goodness or something :) Apparently our sign was too close to the road. According to them if a car had to break down it would have nowhere to pull over : p C'mon now really...... I could just move it.

All in all they were just plain rude and had a very bullying vibe about them. Too serious if you ask me! There are drugs and murderers on the streets, but they will hunt down vendors trying to earn a buck... weird. I'm sure that the beggars (bless them) that hassle people on the side of the road don't have permits to be there. Why not concentrate on things that actually have a negative impact on our society ???

Our permit is on the way but here's the bad news: it might take up to three months to get to us... That sucks so hard :'( I am going to do everything in my power to speed up the process so that we can be back on the strip to keep building our reputation as Morningbru Coffee...

Ok enough of that .....  we were officially shut down at 09:30 am, but before we had to go we sold six cups of coffee. Thats a good start to any day.

First customer.
We have started promoting the stand as a drive thru coffee.... It is just the right height and it makes for speedy service and quick get-aways.

Tragedy !

It's tragic that I haven't been posting this week --- apologies :) This week has been interesting to say the least, we started out on Monday and sold only two cups -- we were bleak about that but I suppose any business has it's slow days. Tuesday came along and we flogged five cups in total, hoooraah. Then on Wednesday something amazing happened, we sold twelve cups!! Woohoo Today we sold thirteen !! So yeah it's looking good and people are digging it. Thanks for all the support guys we really appreciate it.

The cops showed up today to ask for our licence and well, we kind of don't have one yet so we had to leave:( As soon as we left though I managed to make a quick stop at the municipal offices to sort out the pending vendors licence that I had applied for and if all goes well we should be totally legal tomorrow morning.

Michelle and I suspect that the pancake guy called the coppers because we were the only vendors that got asked for our permits. Anyways I'm not gonna point fingers but I'm also not gonna trust the pancake guy anymore either. Karma will sort it all out for us :)

It has been a great week so far and we are starting to see progress, hopefully we will reach our twenty cup goal before the end of next week. If it carries on like this I'm sure we will.

Hope all you guys are having an exciting week so far :) Enjoy the rest of your day. The morningbru team will be going out for all you can eat Chinese tonight (I wonder if I will be able to finish a whole one this time) om nom nom!
